ASEAN Grassroots Peoples Assembly
The workshop on ASEAN Economic Integration began with the introduction of the participants. The participants came from different including: Kompong Soum, Seam Riep, Svay Reang, Krong Prah Seyhanuk, Kompong Cham, Kompong Speu, Koh Kong, and Kompong Chhnang. There were even some international participants from around the ASEAN region.
TiTi’s presentation was about ASEAN Economic Integration, and focused on immigration, business, and infrastructure. She illustrated the three main areas for communications – ASEAN Political Security Communication, ASEAN Economic Communication, and Socio-Cultural Communication.
The introduction of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 is the main purpose for the establishment of ASEAN. Business will be easier when ASEAN community integration is complete.
Taxes are another issue as the ASEAN countries do business together, with a large amount of import or exports between members. The ASEAN community needs to also focuses on healthcare, tourism, and transportation.
It will be not only ten ASEAN countries joining in these activities, but also other countries such as: China, Japan, South Korea and so on. The private sector is also important for ASEAN people to understand.
The major question of the presentation was – When we export or import across ASEAN’s internal borders, who will pay the taxes on the goods?
The answer provided – You can have a discussion with your business partner about the payment for the tax.
